On November 7 we had our Fall Seminar and enjoyed a fun, fast-paced day listening to our guest speaker, Judy G. Russell.  She is an entertaining speaker.

Judy made the topic of the law very interesting and gave us very compelling reasons to add laws and court records (beyond the ones we usually look for) to our research plan.  She taught us about how the law, specifically the law at the time and place we are researching, impacted our ancestor’s lives, and where to find those laws and court records.  Basically she taught us “How knowing the law makes us better genealogists”!

We had a great turn out – in fact it was a record breaking turn out!
