The field in the Member Profile previously called "Research topics" has been renamed to "Locations." This was done to clarify the purpose of the field, which is to help members search for other members who are researching the same locations

The SMCGS Library is housed in the Cañada College Library. If the college reopens, we may be able to open our library. On June 14, the Daily Journal posted an article on reopening plans for San Mateo County colleges: College reopening accelerated.

Accounts have been created on this website for all current SMCGS members.

If you are a member, you can log in using the same email address you used on the old website, but you will have to create a new password. To create a new password, click on the Log in button at the top right of the window and then click on Forgot password and enter the email address. An email message with instructions for resetting your password will be sent to your email address.

If you are not yet a member, please click on the Join button at the right top of the screen and join SMCGS!

The new website for the San Mateo County Genealogical Society is now online. Most parts are working, but we will continue to make some minor changes over the next few weeks. The old website, http://www.smcgs.org, will be available for a few more months as we transition entirely to the new website.

Chris Green's talk on Immigration to America, originally scheduled for June 26, has been postponed. Instead, there will be a general membership meeting in which we will discuss how SMCGS will go forward post-pandemic. It should be an interesting meeting -- please attend (via Zoom, of course!). The meeting will start at 10:00 rather than the usual 10:30.

When this website is ready to go online, we will add the names, email addresses, and other relevant information about all current members into the membership database. We will then send an email message to all current members with instructions about how to set a password and log in.
