Workshop: Getting the Most out of FamilySearch

Event Date:
Thursday, October 11, 2018 - 2:30pm to 4:00pm

Presenter: Christine Bell Green PLCGS

FamilySearch is a powerful (and free) genealogical program that is constantly growing and changing. This hands-on workshop will allow users to experience different aspects of FamilySearch – the records, the catalog, the Wiki – and learn which records can be accessed at home and which can only be accessed at a Family History Center, of which there are several on the peninsula. The computer lab is equipped with 30 PC computers, but if you prefer to use a Mac and have a lap top you may bring your laptop to the workshop. Please be sure to obtain a free FamilySearch account prior to the class and check it out at home to make sure it works. Accounts are not always processed immediately and you might have to wait until the next time the Family History Library in SLC is open.

Cost: SMCGS Members $5, non-members $10
Location: Cañada College Library Computer Lab, Building 9, 3rd Floor
