The Berryessa family from the de Anza expedition to the twentieth century will be reviewed including military, ranchos, religious and social involvements, family murders in the 1850s, and settling into the American culture by the nineteenth century. Records to be discussed include manuscript collections, church records, newspapers, vital records, and others.

Anthony Ray is a descendant of the Berryessa family and an avid genealogist. He has done extensive research throughout California, Arizona, and in the northern Mexican state of Sonora. In 2011, he was the first student awarded the Suzanne Winsor Freeman Student Genealogy Grant, which helped support his genealogical research.
